If you had to choose one word to describe the art of Ada Madison, that would be it. Ada Madison is all about celebrating life and enjoying what’s good in the world.
When Naples Noteworthy first walked into Ada Madison’s home, we were blown away by the interior. Vivid, bold color everywhere. Interesting designs battling for your attention. More than that, there was an uplifting, calming, peaceful, happy feeling in the home.
You felt like you wanted to stay awhile.
Leather couches painted in vivid colors with exquisite designs, walls hung with mermaid corset sculptures and expressionist angels, tables painted with bold designs, bright hand-painted leather pillows–this was the home of an artist, no question.
When we saw it, we knew we were seeing something iconic, like we had walked into both the future and the past at the same time: these designs were going to leave a mark on American decor. They were distinctive, unique, vibrant, uplifting–and there was something more at play. I think it was the fact that Ada Madison’s art reflects something profoundly spiritual.
We asked Madison about her use of color, specifically, in her art and designs.
“Color is my celebration of life,” said Madison. “It’s everywhere in creation. Juxtaposition of warm and cool. Color explosion with iridescent hues. For me it’s happy. It’s joy. It’s celebrating all that’s good in this world. It’s the little bit of light I can contribute to one’s world. Color makes me happy.”
Any philosophy that celebrates life is one to consider incorporating into one’s personal spiritual inventory. Ada Madison’s “joy of life” philosophy permeates her art and design to such a degree that she has already branded herself, even as she takes her first steps toward becoming a world-renowned home decor designer.
“I am working to brand Ada Madison and develop a collection of hand-painted leather furniture and home accessories. I will take it into full production and sell globally. “
Here is an investment opportunity for some savvy Naples Noteworthy reader. Back Ada Madison while you have the chance. This unique designer has the hand of God on her.
Naples Noteworthy put together a video to introduce Ada Madison, who we’ve named A Rising Star in Home Decor Design:
Her personal aspirations–beyond becoming a global brand?
To brighten lives and add smiles with colorful punch designs for home and offices. I want to employ those who need a second chance, those that might even find themselves in a shelter. I want to develop a program to minister to abused women and children. My vision is a shelter where art, music and writing is fused into daily therapy for the abused, lost or homeless. Although I know opening a shelter will be part of it, I see it bigger. All over the US. This is why I believe it will be systems that can be shared freely with other shelters around the country to incorporate into their own cultures. God heals. Art heals. Love heals.
Madison’s artistry doesn’t stop at home decor. In fact, it started with hair. She is a much sought after hair designer with over 35 years of experience styling celebrities, models, and the girl next door. Ada mentored under industry greats like Horst and Peg Gaudian and applies art principles to each design she creates. For Ada, hair is a canvas, and this approach draws out each client’s unique beauty.
Madison is the Founder and Creative Director of award-winning Aveda salons & spas in Naples, FL and Milwaukee, WI. Known for her “makeover magic”, Ada Madison does hair by appointment at her own studio.
“I love the art of hair!” says Madison. “God blessed me with a discerning eye and a creative mind. Hair design has always been an extension to my art studio. As your personal designer we will begin with a full consultation applying art principle to you, your features, your body type and your life style. You see, when you look great, so do I. And when you’re thrilled, so am I.”

About Ada Madison
You might make an assumption, from her art, that Ada Madison has had an easy life. That would be a wrong assumption. This is not joyful art coming from a heart that has known no pain. That would be the art of a child. Ada Madison’s art celebrates life precisely from the place of having known pain…having gone through it…and yet, despite the hurt, being also at a place of peace that allows her to create something beautiful to celebrate the good that is in the world.
“My personal journey has had jagged edges. Jagged edges on a broken heart. It’s there, on those edges, in those times that my greatest joys and miracles have been found,” Madison explains. “I praise the LORD in my storms and He has held my hand every single step of the way. There is joy and love all around us.”
A key relationship in Madison’s life has been her relationship with her son, JT. Married early in life, but disappointed by divorce when her son was twelve, Madison experienced her son’s critical journey from boyhood to manhood as a single mother. She and JT have grown very close.
JT is a college student in Portland, Oregon studying writing and film.
Madison was raised in Iowa, where she received training in hair design. Immediately after high school she relocated to Naples, Florida, where she was the Founder and Director of the award-winning Aveda spas. In 2000, she suddenly felt that she needed to be with her family, so she sold her Naples shop to relocate to Wisconsin, where her family then lived.
This turned out to be a divinely guided decision. Almost immediately after her move, her mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. Madison was able to spend three wonderful years with her mother and her family there before her mother finally left this world to meet her Creator.
Upon arriving in Wisconsin, Madison opened an Aveda salon that had an art gallery in the salon, which quickly took off. Her salon supported one of the causes that was dear to her heart–providing services for Battered & Abused Women. They would bring women into the salon for facials, manicures and pedicures.
Then, in an ironic twist of fate, Madison became one of those very women she ministered to. She married in what turned out to be, unfortunately, something straight out of Sleeping with the Enemy. The man wasn’t what he seemed to be. She was locked up, abused, and, when finally able to extricate herself from the situation, she was actually homeless for awhile.
“God takes us all through an intense fire,” says Madison. “Those with higher callings are plunged deeper into the fire, I believe. It’s all part if His training.”
But Ada Madison is like the phoenix that emerges from the ashes. She was tried with fire and emerged refined, stronger, and more focused.
Madison became a College Administrator in Iowa for an Associates BA Program in Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Technology and Massage Therapy.
Then about two years ago, she returned to Naples. She remembers sitting on the beach, and how she just looked out at the water and could feel that this was the place where she needed to be again.
Naples would be the place where her destiny would truly unfold and her other art–her designs, which had always taken a back seat to her hair artistry, would be transformed from a special “hobby” into a global brand.
And that’s what Madison’s aspirations are. She returned to Iowa and resigned from her position, and immediately relocated to Naples, where she is now launching her collection of hand-painted leather furniture. She wants to put three or four of those designs into production.
This would certainly be the time to take advantage of Madison’s custom design service, while it’s still available, and before Ada Madison becomes a global brand name. It’s also a good opportunity for investors who want to back the first Ada Madison designs.
About Ada’s Faith
Naples Noteworthy asked Ada Madison to share her faith with us. We asked whether she had a message for our readers.
“My faith is the core of who I am. God’s love has brought me through some very dark times. It’s amazing the profound miracles and pure joy that are found resting in the jagged edge of a broken and abused heart.
I was a searcher, a seeker for many years. I saw so much hypocrisy and judgement. It was in one acute moment that He became real. His presence was palpable. I’ve learned that religion is purely man made. God is truth and God is love. It’s really that simple.
I love creating. The world inspires me. People inspire me. There is so much darkness in today’s world yet one tiny light in a room changes everything, doesn’t it? That’s my mission. To be that light. To inspire. To create beauty. To bring beauty and joy to world.”
